Gas prices are in flux with airlines taking notice and covering costs early by increasing airfares. According to the CIO Report in The Wall Street Journal, the price index for airfares increased 0.4% in March. Rising travel prices coupled with summer travel demand does make a dent in business travel with more and more companies taking advantage of the time and cost-saving of video conferencing.
The article sites an example by Accenture who recently invested in high definition video conferencing for large meetings at a cost of $200,000. This allows the company to connect and present to employees gathered at smaller locations and save on airfare and hotel.
