Event-planning professionals (#eventprofs) reap true benefits from social media
Sorel Denholtz | Jul 16, 2009
Ever since February, an ever-growing group of event-planning professionals has been meeting twice a week to discuss topics and issues of interest to them. The truly amazing thing about this group is that it is entirely virtual.
You can find them on Twitter, by simply searching for the tag #eventprofs. You will quickly see that although the tag was created originally for these biweekly conversations, it is now used all day-long for ongoing conversations and sharing of information.
But it doesn’t stop with Twitter. This innovative group soon realized they needed a way to archive the discussions and the information that was shared. Hence, a Wiki. Finally, there is even a Facebook public profile.
Clearly, this is a group that knows how to leverage social media. If you are still trying to get up to speed on these new approaches, we recommend joining and following the groups above. There are also some excellent resources available on-line, such as this article from Mashable: How To Plan and Promote Events with Social Media.
