Schwag is Not a French Word

Having just been to a double conference in Paris, France, let me just say that my schwag bag came up short. Having seen my coworkers go off to conferences and come back with rubix cubes, candy, and all kinds of cool things, I was excited to finally start collecting my own treasure chest of useless conference stuff.

Helas, this was not the case. The french at conferences are truly a down-to-business type. Exhibitors were all about giving you paper pamphlets of information about their company, talking to you for obscenely long periods of time, and less interested in luring you into their tent using toys, pens, and candy.

However, all was not lost: I did manage to spend 2 on a bottle of water, come up with some stale “deluxe fancy nuts” and get cool jigsaw puzzle, though. I guess I’m going to need much more practice before I become a professional schwagger.
