Conference Hound-Up June 4-8, 2012: A Rowdy Week of Raucous Events
Matt O'Connell | Jun 04, 2012
Dig right into this bountiful, houndiful week of exciting events right here on everybody’s favorite Conference Wag. That’s right, I’m giving you an entire week’s worth of events in one power-packed Hound-Up. There’s a lot to cover, so let’s get started!
Bonnarooooo! The yearly spectasm of musical orgasms kicks off this week with a spectacle of big-name bands. Get ready to enjoy a wide range of groups including The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Radiohead, Delta Spirit, Alice Cooper, Feist, Bon Iver, The Shins, Phish, The Roots and many many more.
They’re getting things animated in Baton Rouge, where the Red Stick International Animation Festival runs for an entire week. This unique festival aims to converge the entertaining and compelling sides of art and technology, to recognize the science and innovation behind creative works as well as the creativity behind scientific endeavour. Where the red stick comes into the picture, I have no idea.
France also offers a bustling celebration of animation this week, with the Annecy International Animation Film Festival. They’ll feature everything from budding creatives to established and commercially successful artists in this six-day festival.
Nashville is the appropriate home for the Billboard Country Music Summit, which compiles executives, artists, three-legged dogs and anyone with a stake in the future of the industry for two days to have some serious discussions.
Slick nickname in hand, SMX Advanced claims to be the world’s leading search engine marketing conference. The Search Marketing Expo Advanced in Seattle over the next couple days will give all you serious folks an opportunity to dive into deep, sincere discussions and hopefully make some huge leaps forward with your strategies. The same sexy event will be hitting up Paris as well, if Seattle isn’t good enough for you.
Also in Seattle this week is the Blogher Food conference, bringing droves of foodies and food critiqu-ies together to dine their way through the blogosphere.
Moving on from the delicious to the delightful, we’ve got E3, AKA the Electronic Entertainment Expo, kicking off in LA. Gamers will abound at this conference which shows off upcoming development and software within the industry.
AAF is convening the top minds in advertising for Admerica!, which finishes off its four-day run tomorrow. Flock to Austin with the best & brightest to learn all the latest & greatest.
Soldier Technology is an event with a frightening ring to it that’s taking London by force this week. I’m picturing lots of cyborgs, a couple of Kurt Russells, some T-1000′s and possibly even a full-blown robot or two.
Melbourne’s getting a smokey, peaty treat this week with Whisky Live swinging through on the 6th. Yes, I will take any opportunity to talk about whiskey.
Is that enough to keep you busy? If not, I suspect you may need to cut back on the caffeine. Have a great week and don’t forget to holler at the Hound-Up if there’s something we missed, something we can do better, or if you baked us some delicious treats and don’t know where to send them.
