Conference Hound-Up March 7, 2012: Apple’s New iPad Makes All Other News Unimportant
Matt O'Connell | Mar 07, 2012
Apple announced the new iPad 3 today (or, iPad HD) at the GDC, which continues for the rest of the week. The new iPad is a slightly more unbelievable marvel of modern technology than the last iPad.
The Apple corporation is far less likely to succumb to the fate of these seven inventors, who all fell victim to their own creations. Nonetheless, I’d sleep with one eye open around these new iPads. Feels like they’re smarter than they let on.
In non-apple news, LAUNCH Conference in San Francisco begins today. This is an event for startups, venture capitalists and angel investors which features some healthy competition for brand new and lightly established companies looking to make a big splash.
There are several events kicking off today which celebrate the technological, super-connected, fast-paced world we’ve built. Media Summit New York, produced by Digital Hollywood, covers the gamut from social media to broadcast, radio, news media, movies and more.
Istanbul hosts the International Congress on Visual Culture, which discusses the age of information and the disappearing boundaries between place and time in an increasingly visual world.
Nutracon takes a foodie’s perspective on technology, helping companies use the latest science to develop new products for the food & beverage world.
The new iPad isn’t the only big news of the day (although it would be easy to assume that, since it’s the top story on every website). The Coors company also has a brand new invention: Iced Tea Beer. They’re gonna test it out on the Canadians for a while first, then maybe we’ll get a chance to not buy it down here.
