A Cracking Way Connect: World Education Congress 2012

Although the name may conjure up images of some academic meeting of bespectacled scholars bent on hashing out the educational system, the World Education Congress could not be further from it!  In its most basic format, it is a networking event about networking, or rather, the networking event about networking.  And as any businessman (or woman) worth their salt knows, networking is the key to success (disclaimer: you definitely need a few other things too, but the old adage ‘it’s who you know not what you know’ springs to mind)!  With thousands of attendees in various professions, from meeting and event planners and hoteliers to technology professionals, every year successful partnerships are formed, invaluable connections forged, and this year looks to be no exception.

I had a peek at the website and was blown away by what they had on offer!  Here’s a look at some of the amazing events they’ve got lined up:

Tomorrow evening sees the event off to a running start with Opening Night Celebration, which promises “entertainment, world-class cuisine and unparalleled access to stadium facilities that will leave you feeling like a World Champion.”  With “ Hot Air Balloons in centerfield, aerial acts high above the stadium and a unique array of performance art throughout the infield” this event is set to be a cracker.

On Sunday evening The Big Deal, an official World Series of Poker Satellite Tournament, will be underway throughout the night, with a trip to Las Vegas for two and a $10,000 seat to the 2013 World Series of Poker Main Event up for grabs.  But the casino night is not just limited to the tournament, rather is open to all with Blackjack, Craps, Roulette and many other games.

Rendezvous, the “hottest networking party at WEC,” will take place on Monday at the City Museum in St Louis, “an eclectic mixture of children’s playground, funhouse, surrealistic pavilion, and architectural marvel made out of unique, found objects.”  With a stunning mix of artists formed by Song Division who boasts players who have performed with the likes of John Lennon, David Bowie, Led Zeppelin and Prince, and the opportunity for some top notch karaoke, this year looks to be unmissable.

And finally this action-packed weekend will be rounded off with the spectacular Closing Night celebrations as they light the night with chinese lanterns in a truly memorable cermony.

I don’t know about you but I’m pretty devastated that I’m in London this weekend and not St. Louis! (Well, except for the fact that I’m going to the Olympic Opening Concert tonight…  But more on that later!)
