Moscow is a major economic and cultural centre. It is home to numerous scientific and educational institutions, universities, research institutes, museums and other cultural venues. The city is served by an extensive transit network which includes four international airports, nine railroad terminals, and the Moscow Metro, second only to Tokyo in terms of ridership and recognized as one of the city’s landmarks due to the rich and varied architecture of it’s 122 stations.
Moscow is the undisputed financial centre of Russia and home to the country’s largest banks and many of its largest companies. However, while the overall stability has improved in the recent years, crime and corruption continue to remain a problem hindering business development.
