Burning Man 2012 is a festival of art and music where once a year, tens of thousands of participants gather in Nevada’s Black Rock Desert to create Black Rock City. Burning Man 2012 is dedicated to community, art, self-expression, and self-reliance. They depart one week later, having left no trace whatsoever.
Burning Man 2012 isn’t the kind of festival that most people are used to, with big stages and acts booked to play on a set schedule. Rather, it’s an entirely participant-driven event, and therein lies the novelty.

This year’s Burning Man 2012 art theme will be: “Fertility 2.0,” which contemplates the tendency of any being or living system to create abundant life.

Additional Info

People new to Burning Man 2012 often assume that it’s a regular “festival” as they’ve come to know them, a mostly passive experience where everything is planned, orchestrated and pre-packaged by the event producers, and attendees just come and enjoy the show. In fact, the exact opposite is true ... the people who attend Burning Man 2012 are no mere “attendees,” but rather active participants in every sense of the word: they create the city, the interaction, the art, the performance and ultimately the “experience.” Participation is at the very core of Burning Man 2012, and there are many ways to participate.
