Regulatory investigations are in the news a lot these days. But the high-profile stories such as the Arar, Schreiber- Mulroney and Air India Inquiries are just the tip of the iceberg. Every day, hundreds of regulatory agencies across the country conduct investigations into human rights complaints, employment standards violations, professional misconduct, false advertising, pollution and myriad other cases. And with the introduction of numerous large administrative monetary penalties, the courts will be looking for even more scrupulous conduct of investigations.
