AeroStrategy forecasts that $23 billion less will be spent on military MRO through 2015, a decline of 0.4% annually (but a 2% decline in North America).  This diminished foreign military sales environment creates heightened risk for individual organizations.  UAVs, rotorcraft and tactical transport will see more dollars whereas fighters and strategic transport will diminish.

Delays in passing an appropriations bill - as we saw in February 2011 - would likely carry consequences for the maintenance market.  In February 2011, former Defense Secretary Gates said that cuts would fall heaviest on operations and maintenance.  Technology can be a major player in simulating/modeling and avoiding cost.

It is imperative that the enterprise drive out cost and achieve higher efficiency and affordability in providing sustainment/MRO to the Defense Department. Among the key objectives is to sustain an enterprise that eliminates surprises – for the warfighter, for the contracting community, and for industry’s stakeholders.
MRO Military 2012 is strategically designed to provide you with:

• Strategy from top military leaders
• Clear amplification of what must change
• Opportunities for collaboration to achieve cost, efficiency, and effectiveness goals
• Best practices
• New business models for success

MRO Military 2012 will address the community’s top drivers and pain points:

• Budget constraints
• Public/private partnerships: Merging contractor and DoD capabilities and preventing duplication of effort. What is the new joint business model in a time of reduced funding?
• Improving the supply chain
• PBL/Achieving readiness: How can we afford readiness in a budget crunch?
• Technology data rights

Topic highlights for MRO Military 2012 include:

• Limited funding and demand for improved cost
• Commanders’ Table: Requirements and priorities for sustaining, maintaining, repairing, and resetting the nation’s weapon system assets
• MRO forecast
• How the Defense Business Board recommendations for optimizing global logistics management are being implemented
