At the NAIS 2012 Annual Conference, more than 3,500 independent school leaders and colleagues will gather in Seattle. Together, with attendees, they’ll tap into the innovative spirit of the Pacific Northwest to dream up bold new ideas to lead their school communities into the future. Long a hotbed of creativity, Seattle will inspire attendees to invent new programs and ideas and revitalize current ones to bring back to their schools.
Imagine new ways to cultivate leadership within the schools - for administrators, faculty, and students, who are the global leaders of tomorrow. Bill Gates, an independent school alum, will be the opening general session speaker, will inspire and challenge as he models how cutting-edge innovation and philanthropy go hand in hand.
The closing general session speaker, Amy Chua (AKA, the “Tiger Mom”) will raise important questions about preparing students for the future - and engender debate along the way.
Attendees are encouraged to release their innovator within and meet where it all began - e-commerce, the caramel macchiato, the first bone marrow transplant, grunge rock, jet travel, the personal computer, the wave, the list goes on… With endless possibilities, what will the independent school communities add to this groundbreaking list of innovations?
On Friday of the conference, NAIS devotes a day of programming to teachers. Depending on the location, they will draw an additional 1,000 independent school teachers! Teacher attendees represent a variety of disciplines. Not only do they attend conference programming, but they particularly enjoy the NAIS exhibit hall and its event and activities.
