PAX Prime 2012 is an unique show focused on the culture and community that is gaming. In the Console Freeplay area, PAX Prime 2012 brings hundreds of the latest gen (and classic!) consoles along with all the titles you may have missed throughout the year.

PAX Prime 2012 also features a game industry expo halls much like E3 although this event is the only place the public gets a chance to see, hear and experience what industry insiders do. With over a hundred thousand square feet of show floor and all genres, platforms and styles of games represented, this area makes for one of the highlights to the PAX Prime 2012 experience.

The PAX Omegathon is another main feature of PAX Prime 2012 with 20 contestants competing in six rounds and ending in a single survivor winning a trip to Japan as their grand prize. Each of the games played are publicly announced weeks before the show, but the secret final round is always a surprise. This is the PAX Omegathon!

Whether it’s your favorite webseries or a lecture from the developer you love, the panels at PAX have knowledge and entertainment for gamers of all types.

Another gaming area of PAX Prime 2012 is tabletop gaming ranging from as hardcore as Dungeons & Dragons to as casual as Bananagrams. The PAX Tabletop area has games for all gamer types and skill levels with hundreds of freeplay tables and the ability to checkout games like you would books at a library.

PAX Prime 2012 will also host a series of concerts allowing you to feast your ears upon the soothing sounds of The Video Game Orchestra, check out newcomer Sam Hart, the chiptune / lyrical madness which makes up the work of Supercommuter, and light up the night with The Protomen. Night two of concerts includes Paul & Storm, Jonathan Coulton, and MC Frontalot.

Join PAX Prime 2012 for the ultimate gaming culture and community August 31-September 2, 2012!

Additional Info

Gamers, tabletop board-game lovers, Video-gamers, pc-gamers

Created in 2004, PAX has been hailed as a weekend-long celebration of gamer culture. Defining characteristics include an insider keynote speech, game-inspired concerts, panels on game industry topics, exhibitor booths from independent and major game developers and publishers, after-hours parties, tournaments, and freeplay areas.

Every PAX also features the Omegathon, a three-day elimination tournament. Twenty Omeganauts are chosen from those who pre-order PAX passes, and compete in games from every category (tabletop, console, PC) culminating in a live championship match on the big stage during PAX closing ceremonies. The final game is always out of left field: we’ve done PONG, COMBAT, Tetris, Halo3, excitebike, and last year was Skeeball. PAX Prime’s schedule is made available 3 to 4 weeks before the event’s start date.

PAX Prime is proudly brought to you by Reed Exhibitions – the world’s largest event organiser and in collaboration with the creators of New York Comic Con (NYCC).  PAX Prime is another killer event by ReedPOP – the Pop Culture Group at Reed Exhibitions. ReedPOP also runs the New York Comic Con (NYCC), Chicago Comic & Entertainment Expo (C2E2), Singapore Toy, Game & Comic Convention (STGCC), New York Anime Festival, Star Wars Celebrations, UFC Fan Expos and PAX East.
