Penguicon is an all-volunteer not-for-profit convention which brings together developers and enthusiasts of free and open source software with that of science fiction creativity.  The convention also supports newer tracks of information for Makers, Foodies and Eco-Friendly Living.

Penguicon 2012 features an excellent line up of guests, panelists, and presenters from a large array of topics.  The convention also supports a Geek Prom this year, as well as a traditional Masquerade Costume Contest.  Such items as the Chaos Machine and Open Soda may make an appearance, but look out for a new Lego City.  Liquid Nitrogen Ice Cream will be generated throughout the weekend and the Con Suite will have free snacks to all registered attendees.  Artist Alley and Makers join the Souvenir Dealer’s Room this year for commerce.  Don’t forget about our new Mayhem Track supporting random acts of kindness, chaos and good old fashioned fun!

About 1,000 to 1,500 people attend Penguicon every year. These include entrepreneurs, potential employees and employers, sales decision-makers, and early adopters.  Fan-run science fiction conventions and open source software development are two communities that generate financial value for the things they are passionate about.  Attendees also include a large base of supportive fans, consumers, and excited people demonstrating what they know best!
