The 6th Annual China Petrochemical Focus 2012

As the global economic recovery, demand for petrochemicals started to rise, and the long-term demand outlook for petrochemical products seems positive, supported by rising consumption rates in emerging economies of Asia, primarily China and India. Asia especially China will remains at the centre of petrochemicals industry growth over the years. However, with the expanding of China’s internal capacity build-up, global rapid capacity expansion and fluctuating feedstock prices, whether China would absorb the additional output of major petrochemical producers is still unknown. Demand may being held back by uncertainty, continued sluggish industrial revival complicated by the wind down of stimulus programmes, volatile raw materials, excess capacities and trade protectionism.
