Winston Damarillo is the chief executive officer and co-founder of Morphlabs, a cloud computing pioneer, delivering efficient computing based on optimized cloud architecture. Winston is a proven serial entrepreneur with a track record of building successful technology start-ups. His past entrepreneurial endeavors include several companies which Winston grew to profitability and subsequently sold to major IT players: Gluecode Software, an open source application infrastructure company which was acquired by IBM in 2005, Logicblaze, acquired by Iona Technologies in 2007, and Webtide, acquired by Intalio in 2009. Winston is also the chairman of the board of directors for Exist Global, an award-winning leader in enterprise software development, and MaestroDev, a collaborative software development automation company. Prior to his entrepreneurial endeavors, Winston was among the highest performing venture capital professionals at Intel, having led the majority of his investments to either a successful IPO or a profitable corporate acquisition. Winston is one of the prestigious Young Global Leader (YGL) honorees for 2010, and an active participant of the World Economic Forum, a place where young leaders envision and create a brighter future. WEF YGL launched the Open Cloud Initiative earlier this year to determine how cloud computing can bridge both digital and economic divides in the developing world. He was recently selected as a commissioner at the TechAmerica Foundation’s new Commission on the Leadership Opportunity in U.S. Deployment of the Cloud (CLOUD²)/State and Local Government (SLG). The Commission’s objective is to enable state and local governments in the U.S. to better serve their citizens by optimizing their use of cloud technologies and solutions. Winston believes that the open source movement is instrumental in helping state and local governments, as well as developing countries, to adopt and implement cloud technologies to communicate to their citizenry, expand their educational platform and address national disasters. At Morphlabs, he is now solely focused on making efficient IT resources available for immediate consumption, starting with a solid offering of Dynamic Infrastructure Services—a new mix of on-demand hybrid cloud services. Ultimately, Winston has been working to fuel a global shift in the consumption of power-dense, efficient computing to best practices driven by lower barriers to adoption and the cost benefits of leveraging open source solutions and commodity hardware worldwide. He believes that there is enormous potential for technology companies of all types to contribute thought leadership, IP and solutions to this revolution. He holds a B.S. in Industrial and Mechanical Engineering from the De La Salle University, and he is also a trustee of the Philippine Development Foundation (PhilDev), an organization committed to social development initiatives for Filipinos in the Philippines and around the world.
